Four families were displaced after a fire spread to multiple homes in Newark Saturday afternoon, according to officials.
Firefighters responded around 5:03 p.m. to a fire at 933 South 19th St., according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm after it extended to nearby homes at 935 and 931 South 19th St. and caused a brush fire in the backyard of 922 South 19th St.
Firefighters also handled a small fire at 918 South 19th St.
No injuries were reported.
Officials said 16 adults and four children from four families were relocated.
The main fire was under control by 6:31 p.m.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
