A popular outdoor dinosaur exhibition in Bergen County slated to open Saturday after COVID-19-related delays is being put on hold until next year.
Guy Gsell, the executive producer at
Field Station: Dinosaurs usually welcomes more than 100,000 visitors each season, including dozens of school groups.
Because of the pandemic, the opening date for Field Station was pushed back from Memorial Day to Aug. 15. Then Isaias blew through the region and damaged the area.
“All of our buildings here are tents. And all of the tents got blown apart,” says Gsell.
He says downed trees also damaged the dinosaurs and caused them to lose power.
Luckily, the owners have insurance – because replacing a dinosaur could be a $50,000 endeavor.
Gsell says they will have great improvements in 2021.
