Millions of Americans received an emergency alert on their mobile phones Wednesday as FEMA tested its wireless alert system.
The alerts went out at 2:18 p.m. EDT.
FEMA says that the goal of the system is to allow the president of the United States to be able to reach the country during a national emergency.
The test was initially set for Sept. 20, but postponed in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
