WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Colder air is on the move into Friday morning bringing the coldest temperatures we've seen since late May. A freeze warning is in effect from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.
  • Temperatures could dip into the upper 20s, with widespread frost and freeze conditions likely. These conditions may damage or kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, so take precautions.
  • If you have outdoor pets, be sure to bring them inside. Most of the region will see overnight lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, but we rebound nicely Friday afternoon with highs returning to the 60s.
  • Looking ahead, we’re tracking a coastal storm, a nor’easter is set to impact the region during the second half of the weekend. Expect heavy rain and strong winds from Sunday into Monday, with rainfall totals of 1–2 inches and northeast winds gusting 20–30 mph.
