The federal trial for a man accused of placing bombs in New York and New Jersey last year will begin in October.
Ahmad Rahimi will be tried first in New York on charges that he allegedly placed pressure-cooker bombs in the Chelsea section of Manhattan in September 2016. The explosions injured about 30 people.
Rahimi will then be tried in New Jersey on charges related to pipe bombs set off at the Semper Five charity race in Seaside also in September 2016. No one was injured when the bomb went off inside a trash can near the race route.
Rahimi will also face state charges in New Jersey for allegedly trying to kill Linden police officers during a shootout, which occurred during the manhunt following the bombings.
