2-alarm fire displaces Brooklyn families

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire on Linden Street early Monday morning.
Flames poured out of out an apartment building on Linden Street between Evergreen and Central avenues as firefighters worked to get the flames under control.
The FDNY reached 100 Linden St. around 7 a.m.
A resident of the building who asked to remain anonymous says he woke up as the building was already on fire. He and dozens of others, he says, had to climb down the fire escape to get out.
The fire chief on scene said at least five people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Dozens of what appeared to be lithium-ion batteries were removed from the burning building and loaded into barrels.
"There were about 15-20 electrical bikes practically on the sidewalk," says neighbor Jose Villarreao. "When we saw all these bikes being parked there, I said to my wife something's going to happen because we been hearing news that electrical bikes are burning up."
One of the tenants say many of the residents are delivery drivers, which is why there were so many e-bikes parked there.
The Red Cross was also on scene working with the families who've been displaced.
