The FBI believes it caught the notorious ?Mad Hatter? bank robber in Union on Sunday.
James Madison, 50, was charged with robbing a Bank of America in Union.
Investigators say Madison, who appeared in federal court Monday, bears a striking resemblance to the ?Mad Hatter,? a bank robber who cops say is responsible for at least 17 heists since September 2006. He has worn a different hat in each incident, making off with a total of nearly $60,000.
Police say Madison is no stranger to crime. He was paroled two years ago after serving about 20 years for manslaughter.
