Mother’s Day is Sunday, and many people are expected to celebrate by spending money on gifts and special outings.
The National Retail Federation says Mother’s Day spending is expected to reach a record $38 billion, or about $300 per person.
Some of the top gifts for moms include flowers, jewelry and special outings. While finding the perfect present can be costly, many people say treating mom is worth it.
“When we ask people about the motives behind why they’re buying, the top two things are they want to create a special memory with their gift or they want to buy something unique or different,” said Mark Mathews, National Retail Federation Chief Economist and Executive Director of Research.
