WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Mother Nature is delivering a perfect mix today for the first day of summer and Father's Day. Expect plenty of early afternoon sunshine and comfortable, seasonable temperatures. A few clouds will start drifting in late this evening ahead of the next weather maker, and while a stray pop-up shower is possible, most of your Sunday should be considerably dry.

Monday brings the next chance for rain, and as of now, it looks promising for a much-needed, good soaking. With the region in a drought, the soils are hardened. Therefore, while heavy rainfall is a welcome sight, it may not "sink" into the soils but runoff. This is why a flash flood threat is there for Monday afternoon and evening. Keep this in mind for any commute plans. In total, 1-2 inches of rain is possible before all is said and done late Tuesday morning.

The next rain chance arrives on Thursday of the upcoming week.

The News 12 Storm Watch Team will keep tracking this system as it moves closer and keep you updated on when that wet weather arrives.
