An Ocean County father is facing charges after his 10-month-old son was found crawling on a busy street.
Lakewood police say that Evgeniy Dorman, 41, surrendered Friday afternoon. He was charged with cruelty and neglect of a child.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with the good Samaritan who first found the baby and stopped traffic to prevent him from being hurt.
Cory Cannon said he was on his way to work when he saw the child crawling on Joe Parker Road in Lakewood.
“It kind of stopped my heart, but I knew I had to act fast,” Cannon told News 12.
Cannon took a photo of the baby as proof of what he saw, and then stopped his car in the roadway to block traffic. A neighbor came and scooped up the baby.
Authorities said at the time that they believed the baby’s older sibling accidently left the front door open, allowing the baby to escape.
Dorman was released pending a future court appearance.
