A man died after a shooting in Newark Wednesday evening.

Police traveling along Bergen Street around 7 p.m. were approached by a woman who reported that a man had been shot, police said.

The victim was found in the 800 block suffering from several gunshot wounds.

He was identified as Alkadeem Kortch of Newark. He died just before 8 p.m., police said.

Prosecutors are investigating the shooting.
