A Farmingdale man is accused of robbing two TD Banks in Monmouth County within a week.
Michael Volek, 53, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Arpert in Trenton federal court Tuesday to face his charges.
Officials say that Volek robbed the TD Bank in Tinton Falls on Aug. 25 and the TD Bank in Wall Township on Aug. 28. In both cases, officials say that Volek handed the teller a note demanding money. He also allegedly threatened to shoot and cut the teller in Wall. Officials did not say if Volek had any weapons on his person during the robberies.
Volek was arrested at a motel in Neptune a few hours after he allegedly robbed the Wall Township bank.
Volek could face up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted of the crimes.
