A year after a 77-year-old woman was hit while crossing a Nutley street, her family is still looking for justice.
They say the system has failed them by allowing a 41-year-old Belleville man responsible for her death to go free.
Police found and questioned the man driving the car, but he was never charged. Over the summer, a grand jury found he didn't knowingly leave the scene.
Al and Sal Hernandez say they would have appreciated some sort of apology from the man who hit their mother, a beloved beauty salon owner.
Nutley police are currently investigating another hit-and-run case on Centre Street that left a woman injured. It happened just a few blocks away from last year's accident. Police ask anyone with information to call them.
