The arrests of two individuals in the murders of three college students in Newark has evoked deep emotions from the family of one victim.
Dashon Harvey?s mother, Judy Wade, said the arrests bring her some relief as she prepares to bury her son. Wade added that her family would like to know why the alleged killers chose her son.
?I don?t believe in an eye for an eye, but I love my baby and I hope they do the same thing to [one of the suspects], what they did to my baby,? Wade said.
Harvey, 20, and two of his friends were killed while listening to music behind Mount Vernon School. A fourth friend, Natasha Aeriel, survived despite being shot in the head.
Meanwhile, authorities said robbery appears to have been the motive in the killings. Police arrested a 15-year-old Wednesday night in connection with the slayings. Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow said she would like to try the teen as an adult.
A second suspect, Jose Carranza, surrendered himself directly to Newark Mayor Cory Booker Thursday afternoon.
Both suspects face three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and other charges.
A wake for Harvey will be held Friday at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Separate services will be held for all three victims Saturday.
