The New Jersey Department of Health confirmed 20 weather-related deaths between the weekend of Jan. 24 and Feb. 9.
According to officials, the victims ranged in age from 25 to 90 years old and were primarily found outside or in a vulnerable area, like a vehicle or unheated porch.
Some were related to slip and falls, and a small number involved substance abuse, the department said.
Officials encourage residents who need help to call 211 for information on their county's Code Blue status and the location of warming centers.
