As Republicans Chris Christie, Steve Lonegan and Rick Merkt vie for New Jersey residents' votes, experts say the primary election will come down to attendance.
Though Christie, who is a former U.S. attorney, has a commanding lead in many gubernatorial polls, election experts say voter turnout, or lack thereof, could make the race much closer.
Researchers say hardcore conservatives in New Jersey may be more likely to go vote for Lonegan and make their voices heard, while moderate Republicans likely to support Christie may not turn out.
The Republican primary is Tuesday. The GOP candidate will likely face Gov. Jon Corzine.
