5ds agoSubway stations all across the city are getting major upgrades, thanks to the MTA’s ReNEWvation program that includes select stations in the Bronx.
Commuters who take the 4 train from the 170th Street station will notice fresh paint and new lights. David Soliman, vice president of facilities for NYC Transit, says that this station and the 225th Street station in Williamsbridge will be the 71st and 72nd stations in the city to receive these makeovers.
The MTA’s ReNEWvation program utilizes planned service outages to perform station-wide repairs while riders aren’t present at the station.
"This station alone received over 40,000 square feet of new, freshly painted surfaces to cleaning gutters and drains and repairing any leaks that happen throughout the station,” said Soliman about the 170th Street station. “Our customers notice a difference, and then our internal customers employees get the back of the house space in their facilities, also refreshed as part of this program."
