Several school districts across New Jersey released students early Tuesday due to the excessive heat.
Temperatures around the Garden State reached into the upper-90s for the third day in a row, giving New Jersey its second heat wave of 2017.
Trenton Public Schools operated on a reduced schedule and all after-school and after-care activities were canceled.
Clifton, Cranford, Edgewater, Hamilton Township, Hillsborough Township, North Plainfield, Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional and Woodbridge Township school districts either dismissed students early or operated on a reduced class schedule.
Temperatures are expected to cool into the 70s for Wednesday.
