A person and a dog were found dead inside a home in Ewing after a fire erupted Tuesday, police say.
The fire started around 7 p.m. on Boone Avenue. Police say several patrol officers responded to the fire and attempted to enter the home but were unsuccessful due to the heavy smoke and heat.
Nearby volunteer fire departments responded and extinguished the fire. Officials say a single adult victim and a dog were both found dead. The identity of the victim has not been released as the medical examiner has not yet completed the official identification.
The fire has been deemed nonsuspicious although officials are investigating the cause.
