Evacuation plan put into place after drums of chemicals found in Howell
An evacuation plan was put into place after hundreds of drums of chemicals were found in Howell Township.
There was a fire at the former Compounders Inc. site on Marl Road in Howell last month. During the cleanup, drums containing adhesives and asphalt were found.
All potential evacuation areas are within 1 mile of the cleanup site.
The Environmental Protection Agency has a meeting scheduled for March 21 to discuss a plan to remove the waste.
The EPA says that right now those living near the site are not at risk.
