No NJ Transit labor deal was reached after 15 hours of nonstop negotiations Thursday, and transportation is stopped.

Union members are on strike and at the picket lines by the NJ Transit Headquarters.

The engineers union provided an update on the strike situation Friday morning, saying they are hoping to get this settled and that it is not a prolonged strike. The union said it believed there was a deal before negotiations ended last night and that there are currently no scheduled talks until Sunday.

Over 300,000 commuters are affected. Trains are stopped, and there's no clear idea when there will be a resolution.

Now, 450 engineers and trainees will be on strike starting today.

According to the The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, NJ Transit managers walked out of the talks shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday - bringing trains that run daily and year-round to a stop.
