When Derek Jeter donned the navy pinstripes Thursday for one final home game, he did so amid dreary weather that did little to dampen fans' spirits.

After a season-long farewell tour around the major leagues, the New York Yankees played one last home game, against the Baltimore Orioles, with No. 2 as their shortstop. Jeter's sendoff was expected to match that of Mickey Mantle's.

Devoted fans had been giving their best wishes to the team captain--some even lined up hours early in the rain.

Tickets on the secondary market for home game number 1,391 in Jeter's 20-season career were going for hundreds of dollars in the bleachers and up to $10,000 in section 19, right next to the Yankees dugout.

Regardless of an ominous forecast of rain well into the evening, the stadium was packed and fans said they couldn't be happier.
