Eleven new EMTs graduated from the "Long Island Earn While You Learn Academy" on Tuesday in Suffolk.
The program is run by a company called Global Medical Response and is open to anyone who wants to help others.
"It takes people that are not in the EMS community, gives them the opportunity to sit for a 10-week class to learn to become an EMT," says Joseph Cutrone, Hunter EMS VP of Business Development.
This is the second graduating class from the program.
No experience is necessary to take part in the program.
The new EMTS will be eligible to work for GMR and Hunter Ambulance Group.
