Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took a man into custody Wednesday morning after his Acura crashed along Route 130 in North Brunswick.
Before the two-car crash, police say federal agents pulled over the driver when he decided to speed away to avoid arrest.
The crash was at the intersection of Route 130 and Washington Place in North Brunswick. Police have confirmed that the driver of the Acura drove through a red light before plowing into a Tesla from behind.
It turns out the woman in that Tesla is Dr. Penelope Cohen, the wife of East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen. She suffered a leg injury.
ICE eventually arrested the man after he ran away following the crash.
News 12 is waiting to hear more from the Department of Homeland Security, including the identity of the man taken into custody and whether or not there was a high-speed chase that provoked the crash.
