Elizabeth residents displaced following a fire at Bella Vista Apartments; no injuries

The Red Cross New Jersey says it is helping 37 people from nine families with assistance for temporary housing, food and clothing.

An early morning fire forced residents in a high-rise apartment building in Elizabeth to evacuate their homes.
The fire at the nine-story Bella Vista Apartments was contained to the garbage shoot of the building on Jersey Avenue. But because of the smoke damage, some residents remain displaced. There were no injuries or any other damage.
The Red Cross New Jersey says it is helping 37 people from nine families with assistance for temporary housing, food and clothing.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
