An elderly Hasbrouck woman was mauled by a pit bull and a boxer Thursday while walking her dog.
Witnesses say 82-year-old Stella Torti's only concern was shielding her Shih Tzu from the attacking animals. Torti suffered wounds to her scalp. According to witnesses, her scalp was completely shredded and torn.
Torti is listed in fair condition at Hackensack Medical Center.
The pit bull and boxer have been placed under quarantine. Police say Joseph Cinelli, the dogs' owner, will face charges.
According to neighbors, the dogs had never been a problem in the past.
