An Edison deli owner says he is struggling in these tough economic times to keep his store open.
Domenick Mastroianni opened his Old World Italian Deli just over a year ago after leaving his previous job. Mastroianni says he has struggled over the last few months to keep his fledgling business afloat, but hopes that some incentives will grow his customer base.
Mastroianni says he is trying to attract customers by using coupons and slashing prices. On the down side, he says he is forced to sell smaller portions of food while business continues to lag. Mastroianni hopes customers will be impressed by his selection, despite the smaller portions, and return.
"I grew up in [an] Italian family, so it was natural when I left corporate America ? to do something on my own, so here I am," Mastroianni says.
