Officials in Westwood say a two-family home caught fire Wednesday morning.

The 3-alarm fire happened on Oakland Avenue. The home was unoccupied at the time.

Flames reached well above the roof and smoke was seen coming out from different areas of the home as firefighters were putting out hotspots.

Parts of the home collapsed while crews were inside, briefly trapping a group of firefighters. The firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The house was apparently going through renovations at the time.

“Luckily, this home was unoccupied so there was no one inside, but check that your fire alarms are working,” says Chief Kevin Woods. “Thankfully, no one was no one inside. I can only imagine if there was.”
