Fast food restaurants in central New Jersey are at the center of a dangerous E. coli outbreak.At least 19 people are reported to have been infected with the bacteria. Eleven of those cases were traced back to Taco Bell Restaurants in New Jersey. One Taco Bell restaurant in South Plainfield has been closed due to the investigation. Seven infected people remain hospitalized Sunday. Two of those people are young children in very serious condition. New Jersey residents are urged to see their doctor if they experience severe sickness.The Middlesex County health department is investigating the cause of the outbreak. A Taco Bell spokesman from the Taco Bell headquarters says the South Plainfield restaurant passed inspection about a week ago but will remain closed pending the investigation.
