Officials at Picatinny Arsenal have released the name of the driver that caused the evacuation of the installation and nearby homes after he allegedly tried to enter the truck gate Friday morning with a suspicious vehicle.
He has been identified as Petr Cifka, 46, a citizen of the Czech Republic. He is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for his attempt to enter the installation unauthorized.
According to a statement from ICE, "Mr. Cifka has been entered into deportation proceedings and will remain in ICE custody pending a hearing before a federal immigration judge."
On Friday, Cifka allegedly showed up at Picatinny Arsenal without any identification. Guards at the truck gate felt his vehicle looked suspicious and feared there may have been an explosive item inside.
The arsenal and nearby homes and businesses were evacuated. Nearby Route 15 was also shut down during the investigation.
No explosives were found.
