A driver was issued a motor vehicle summons in connection with an accident near Fairleigh Dickinson University's campus that resulted in the death of a recent graduate.
Teaneck Police Chief Robert Carney says 49-year-old Carlos Poole struck 27-year-old Weiqi Wang as she was crossing River Road in a crosswalk early Monday morning. Poole remained at the scene of the crash.
Wang was a resident of China who had recently earned a graduate degree from FDU.
A police investigation determined that driver inattention was the main contributing factor to the accident.
Poole has been charged with careless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and having an obstructed view.
It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.
