A driver lost control of her vehicle in East Brunswick on Wednesday and drove through a fence and into an inground pool.
Police say they responded to a motor vehicle crash on Thomas Road around 6 p.m. The vehicle was partially submerged in the pool, police say.
Homeowner Daniel Bekheet told News 12 New Jersey that his wife was making dinner at the time of the car crash.
“She got me from my office saying there is a car in the pool,” Bekheet said.
A neighbor, who spoke with News 12 off camera, acknowledged she accidentally drove her BMW right into Bekheet’s swimming pool.
Doorbell video from Bekheet shows the neighbor lose control of the SUV. The woman says she believes she hit the brake, but the vehicle kept moving, circling, and then crashed through the fence and into the pool.
The woman told News 12 she had to be pulled out of her car through the sunroof before her car was removed from the water and that she almost struck her sister.
“Everyone was screaming,” Bekheet said. “As long as she’s OK, that’s all that matters. I’m sure insurance will take care of everything. But as long as she’s OK. Thank God she came out fine.”
There are no injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.
