The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a man they say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash in Metuchen.
Paddy Flynn, 18, is charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury. Authorities say that Flynn was driving a white Ford F-250 pick-up truck when he struck a 51-year-old utility worker in the crosswalk at the intersection of Middle Avenue and Grove Avenue. Flynn then allegedly fled the scene.
The crash happened just after 9 a.m. on Monday. Flynn was arrested several hours later.
On Monday, prosecutors released a photo of another white pick-up truck seen near the incident. Authorities determined that the driver of that while was a witness to the crash, who ultimately helped identify Flynn as the suspected driver that struck the utility worker.
The worker, who has not been identified, remains in critical condition, according to authorities.
