Dover man sentenced to 5 years for killing homeless man with rock

A Dover man was sentenced to five years in prison for killing a homeless man.

The incident happened on the night of July 25 at the railroad tracks near West Clinton Street in Dover. Officials say that 34-year-old Wilfredo Cabrera-Masariegos struck 47-year-old Rene Rivera Hernandez in the head with a rock and then ran from the area. Hernandez died from his injuries.

Cabrera-Masariegos pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter on Sep. 6.
