Special-needs dogs from around the country are making their way to New Jersey to be adopted.
Several dogs with special needs arrived at the Shake-A-Paw adoption center from New Mexico this week. The no-kill shelter takes in about 30 dogs every few months.
Among the dogs from New Mexico is Abe Blinkon, a blind dog with no eyes.
"The rescue dogs always seem to be very grateful that they have a family to love them. Some of the rescue dogs that we get in may have even been full strays and never really had a family," says adoption center president Jeffrey Morton. "Once they're on someone's couch and they're with the family and they get the love that they want, they are good dogs."
Shake-A-Paw helped nearly 500 dogs find their forever homes in 2016.
