According to the health system, the patients, a 61-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, are "steadily recuperating from critical cases of COVID-19." They received the transfusions in early April.
The treatments used plasma donated by a COVID-19 survivor whose blood has antibodies that protect against coronavirus.

The pair were both taken off ventilators and released from intensive care in just over a week. They're expected to return home next month. They are the first two New Jersey residents to receive the ground-breaking plasma therapy.
