Commuters at New Jersey Transit's Secaucus Junction rail station are being screened for explosives.

The railroad and the Transportation Security Administration started using the passive device on Wednesday. It monitors body density and there is no need for commuters to stop and empty their pockets.

The agency is partnering with NJ Transit and other mass transit agencies to evaluate the new piece of security screening technology through a temporary field test.

An older version was used at the station during the Super Bowl in 2014.
