A detention hearing has been scheduled for a New Jersey man accused of killing a student from the College of New Jersey in a crash.

David Lamar is currently being held at the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell. His detention hearing has been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10.

Lamar is accused of causing the crash that killed 20-year-old TCNJ student Michael Sot and injured six others in Ewing early Sunday morning. Prosecutors say that Lamar was driving while impaired at the time of the crash.

Sot was acting as a designated driver and was taking some friends to an off-campus event when Lamar allegedly crashed into him head-on. Lamar and his passenger were also hurt.

Sot died Tuesday afternoon. Several other passengers remain hospitalized.

Lamar was charged with vehicular manslaughter and assault by auto.
