Anyone who has federal student loans can expect to begin repaying them again on Feb. 1.
This is when President Joe Biden is planning to restart the payments. Most federal student loans have been paused since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.
But some Senate Democrats have urged the president to continue the freeze.
Biden has insisted that the extension to Jan. 31 will be the last.
Democratic lawmakers are not the only ones who say that the freeze should remain in place. A new survey by Data for Progress shows that more than half of those surveyed say that the pause should be extended due to the ongoing pandemic – especially because of the delta and omicron variants.
The survey found that 37% of people surveyed agree payments should restart.
