(07/06/06) TRENTON ? The Delaware River floodwaters have receded, but the flooding nightmare for many Trenton residents is far from over.
Residents are steadily returning home to assess the damage to their homes following last weeks massive flooding. Many homeowners started the arduous process of pumping water out of their basements, disinfecting the walls and disinfecting the floors. One resident had to throw out a washer and dryer he purchased during another bout of flooding last year.
The Island and Glen Afton sections of Trenton were under mandatory evacuation orders when the Delaware River spilled over its banks. Despite the frequent flooding, many residents say they?re not moving anywhere. According to homeowners, the people in the area make the aggravation worthwhile.
