A day at the beach in many New Jersey communities is getting more expensive according to the State Public Advocate's Office.
Sea Bright raised its entrance fee by a dollar to $8 per person, but threw in free parking. Bill Mach, who manages the beach, said it has to do with economics. He said prices are increasing because lifeguard salaries and the minimum wage have increased.
The most expensive beach in New Jersey is Mantoloking at $12 per person. The best deal along the shore is Sandy Hook beach at $10 a carload.
Some residents said it is not worth the price when including money for gas and food, while others said they?d pay the price as long as the beach experience was worth it.
The State Public Advocate's report found of the 48 oceanfront towns in the state, 12 raised their rates for the season and only two lowered them.
