Like most beaches on The Shore, Bradley Beach leaders put limits on daily beach passes. By Sunday morning, they were already sold out.
Jovita is the gatekeeper at Bradley Beach. As the person who checks beach badges, she often has to break the unfortunate news to people who come too late.
"It breaks my heart, it does. They come here with their family and they can't go down," she says.
Last week, Bradley Beach borough leaders reduced available daily beach passes from 3,000 to 2,000.
Mayor Gary Engelstad pointed to overcrowding on the north end of the beach along with a reduction in space due to beach erosion from Tropical Storm Fay.
