Gov. Andrew Cuomo is calling for the NYPD and Mayor Bill de Blasio to put an end to the tension between them.
In a statement released Wednesday, the governor said in part, "This city and this state are a possible terrorist target. So this is a distraction that we don't need."
Cuomo has dismissed questions about whether he would act as a mediator between City Hall and the police department.
Police unions claim that de Blasio hasn't supported officers since the grand jury decision in the Eric Garner chokehold case.
