A brushfire and downed power lines created major traffic backups in Haverstraw Friday afternoon.
It happened on Route 9W near Short Clove Road.
Orange & Rockland Utilities says a CSX freight train hit and broke poles on both the north and south side of the railroad tracks at Route 9W.
Those downed lines then started a brushfire.
O&R says there are no injuries or customer outages related to this.
Chris Cappe said he was biking from Manhattan to Bear Mountain and was stuck in the heat because of the road closure.
"It's very hot and this is the only way I know how to get back to Manhattan on a bike, so I have to wait here in the heat," says Cappe, of Manhattan.
Crews are working to fix those power lines and reopen the road.
