The Crossroads Theatre in New Brunswick will soon stage its first show in a brand new performing arts center.
The old theater was torn down in order to make way for the new building. It occupies the ground floor of a new residential high-rise and houses two theaters, including the George Street Playhouse.
“Managing a physical plan is one of the most challenging aspects of running a theater. And you’re spending so much time, so much capital,” says artistic director Marshall Jones. “If you remove that from the equation, then you can focus on the plays, and the actors and the playwrights. That puts you in a much stronger position."
The first performance at Crossroads will be “Paul Robeson,” beginning Sept. 5. More information about performances can be found on the theater's website.
