Crews are working on a water main break at the intersection of St. Georges Avenue and Hamilton Street in Rahway.

The 12 inch main break is on the northbound side of St. Georges Avenue.

Surrounding streets are blocked off with cones, police are asking people to avoid this area while crews make repairs.

Repairs have been ongoing since at least 8 p.m. Wednesday.

There could be water service disruptions for residents in the area.

Veolia Water says if your water is discolored, that is from naturally occurring sediment within the main, you should run cold taps until the water runs clear.

The cause of the water main break is under investigation.
