Crews work to contain 2 New Jersey wildfires under exceptionally dry and warm weather conditions

All of New Jersey remains in Stage 3 Fire Restrictions.

Crews are working to contain two wildfires burning in New Jersey.
The so-called Microwave Fire in Rockaway Township, Morris County is at 85% contained and burned 77 acres since Saturday. Today only three structures are threatened and Jacobs Road remains closed according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Wildfire Advisory out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is for the smoke impacting residents in Burlington and Ocean counties.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says they are not assisting the Joint Base firefighters. However, the fire is expected to remain on Joint Base property.
All of New Jersey remains in Stage 3 Fire Restrictions. Fires in wooded areas are not allowed unless contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, gas, or electricity. No charcoal fires are allowed.
All of New Jersey is under a Drought Watch which means people are asked to voluntarily save water.
