Crews demolish building destroyed by fire
More than a day after a fire ripped through a Bayonne building which housed the Bayonne Giant Laundromat and several apartments, the building was demolished.
The building was located at the corner of 20th Street and Avenue C.
Officials say the fire ignited just after 1 a.m. Saturday outside of the building, where trash is stored.
Crews began demolishing the building Saturday night.
News 12 is told one of the two firefighters who were hospitalized after the building's roof collapsed was released. The second firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire. The official cause of the fire is unknown at this time and under investigation.
Those who were being housed at Bayonne High School were moved into hotels Sunday.
