A construction crane collapsed onto a multi-unit apartment building across the street from Rutgers University Sunday night.
The crane, which was being used to build a nine-story apartment building, crashed down onto the apartment building around 8 p.m. on 142 Hamilton St.
The apartment building sustained significant damage, and so did a house next to it.
The complex housed students who attend Rutgers University, but Heather Harris, a resident of the apartment building, confirmed that “none of the residents were home when the crane collapsed.”
Officials are trying to determine what caused the crane to come down.
News 12 is waiting to hear back from the construction company.
