Residents in North Wildwood are being reminded to keep their pets inside after police say they received several reports of a coyote spotted in the area.
North Wildwood police say residents should keep their dogs close when walking and don't let indoor/outdoor cats roam the neighborhood.
Coyotes are generally nocturnal, but it is not uncommon to see them during daytime hours. Police say coyote attacks on people are very rare, as they are mostly skittish of people. However, police say families with small children should be cautious.
Do not attempt to feed or approach the coyote, as they may carry infectious diseases, police warn. Coyotes should be left alone.
Police say to report any emergencies to 911.
